Dr. Mary Honan
Dr Mary Honan Ph.D English Lit. (Doctoral thesis entitled 'The Literary Representation of World War II Childhood: Interrogating the Concept of Hospitality). Mary also has a B.A. (Hons) in Design from the Limerick College of Art and Design and two Masters degrees in English Literature. Mary has lectured both on Shoah studies and on 18th and 19th Century Literature at Mater Dei/DCU; she has also given conference papers on Shoah Literature, both in Ireland and France; she has interviewed many authors who have written Shoah inspired children's literature from 1939, to present day and she also also interviewed survivors and children of survivors. Mary also holds a B.A. (Hons) in Design from The Limerick College of Art and Design. Apart from academia Mary competed at the top level of Irish dancing from the age of 4. She spent 14 years as principle female dancer with Bunratty Castle Entertainers and traveled the world with the company. She is also a qualified Irish dancing teacher and Irish dancing judge with An Coimisún le Rinci Gaelacha. Mary is also a qualified speech and drama teacher (An Associate of the Victoria college of Music and Speech (London), and The Royal Irish Academy of Music and Speech).
